- Most Men's Team Badminton World Champ Titles
- The most wins at the mens World Team Badminton Championships for the Thomas Cup    (instituted 1948) is 12 by Indonesia (1958, 1961, 1964, 1970, 1973, 1976, 1979, 1984, 1994,    1996, 1998, 2000).
- Indonesia produces the best badminton players in the world, and the country has dominated the    sport for years. Some of the best Indonesian badminton players include Liem Swie King, Icuk    Sugiarto, and Rudi Hartono.
- The Indonesian Badminton Federation was established on May 5, 1951.
- At the 2000 Olympic Games, Indonesia won gold in the men's doubles, and silver in the men's    singles and mixed doubles.

- Badminton is one of the world's fastest racket sports with the shuttlecock being smashed at    speeds of around 180 mph in top competitions.
- The modern game of badminton began in India and was called "Poona",    before being taken back to England in the 1860s by British officers.    Badminton became an Olympic Sport in 1992, in Barcelona. The Thomas Cup and Uber Cup (the women's    competition) are the sport's most prestigious events, with nations such as    Indonesia, China, Malaysia, and Korea dominating the top spots.

1. In an average two-player badminton match, a player runs about one mile.
2. More than 1.2 million Americans participate in the sport an average 25 times a year.
3. A shuttlecock is made out of bird feathers, string and plenty of strong glue! An Olympic     shuttlecock must have 16 feathers.
4. The world's biggest shuttlecock lives at the Kansas City Museum and it's 48 times larger than
    a real one!
5. On November 5, 1996, Englishman Simon Archer hit a shuttlecock that measured a speed
    of 162 mph (260 km/h).
